Presently I am in the final year of a graphic design degree. I enjoy art and being creative. I have had the privilege to lead art classes, paint murals for local churches, and design gifts. I have also used my skills to design stationery for formals, hen parties, and weddings. I have my Silver Millennium Volunteering award; volunteering weekly for my church youth and yearly for “Spark”, which involves going into the community to help elderly and vulnerable people by hosting events and tending their gardens. I have taken part in charity runs and in the future would like to complete a marathon. These activities show that I am an industrious yet compassionate and caring person. I enjoy music and I have my grade 8 in clarinet, grade 4 in piano and I am currently teaching myself the guitar. I attended the school wind band for 6 years and I regularly play in my church worship.

I am driven and determined with a great attitude to work. I have completed my Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award which requires commitment as well as being physically and mentally enduring. From 16 I worked in retail, helping me gain social skills and providing opportunities to show initiative. I soon gained more responsibility as a till supervisor, demonstrating I am a trustworthy and honest member which developed my skills in learning how to work under pressure with time limits. I was able to manage my work-life balance effectively and successfully gained my A-Levels. I had many opportunities to help members of the public, feeling rewarded by their appreciation.

I obtained a role as a nursing assistant, working alongside nurses to provide patient-centered care in a safe and nurturing environment. My eyes have been opened to learning about the importance of critical analysis, commitment, and responsibility. I feel privileged in this job to be able to make the patients feel more comfortable through washing, toileting, and assisting with eating and drinking at mealtimes, ensuring I maintain respect, dignity and well-being for the patient. I am sensitive to the different needs and feelings of others and treat people with kindness, putting them at the centre of all I do so the patient knows they are valued. I also have learnt the importance of promoting independence when possible. As communication is so important I make sure that all messages are passed on to the required staff in a timely manner and provide patients with confidence that they can talk to me confidentially. I learn by listening carefully to others, but also know my limits and I am not afraid to ask someone for help when needed. You can see that I have empathy and dedication. This is displayed through my regular attendance, covering co-workers and my willingness to work unsocial hours. I feel that the development of these skills are vital in any career.

I am compassionate, trustworthy, hardworking, caring and I love working with people which, I believe, are essential qualities for any profession.
