POP art was a movement that emerged from England in the 1950s. It became popular in the 1960s as a result of the New York artists Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, James Rosenquist, and Claes Oldenburg. It was originally created to merge prestigious art with a lower class culture.

POP art was very influential and had a large impact on graphic design. It challenged the typical fine art style and was very popular, low-cost, young and colourful. These features made the art appear bold, bright, fun and friendly. As well as this the bold outlines are very eye-catching. It also used a lot of repetition so it could be mass produced.

The POP art aesthetic features of its design are all about bright, bold, fun and user-friendly looks. Furthermore, this style features saturated colours, heavy outlines and bold typography, all of which are eye-catching and visually appealing. POP art conveys a mood of high energy, fun while also being modern and stylistic.
