On 30th January 2022 industry speaker Craig Norwood from Hundred Studio came to our class to tell us about his career journey. It was an interesting conversation hearing how he started out after getting his Graphic Design and Illustration degree, then winning an ISTD competition to working in Dubai and finally co-founding his company “Hundred Studio.”
Craig informed us that on is journey he struggled with imposter syndrome thinking that he was “professionally winging it.” However, he encouraged us by saying that we all have been taught basic skills and yet we still need to learn some new skills on the job. Craig said that he needed to learn new techniques in order to collaborate with designers all over the world – ensuring that he keeps the mental attitude that everyone’s human.
Craig says that he takes a brand lead approach in order to create a new experience for the user. Focusing on digital elements, he has created an online presence for the HSBC digital branch after being told in the briefing that they don’t want to use ANY paper. He informed us that he was given a lot of responsibility obtaining more of a ‘consultant’ role. He worked alongside the project manager to communicate with the client.
During Covid-19 Craig Norwood and Gregg Reid set up Hundred Studio. Their ambition was to create meaningful experiences through brand design. They work with people who are ambitious and ready to stand out.
